Frequently Asked Questions
Treatment FAQs
Do you offer ketamine treatments?
We offer several options for healing with psychedelics, including:
- IV Ketamine Infusions (1-hour for mental health, 2-hour for chronic pain)
- Intramuscular (IM) Ketamine, without a therapist
- Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) IM ketamine, with a therapist
- Spravato® (esketamine) nasal spray
All treatments are provided in a calm, supportive medical setting. Our team of physicians, nurses, and therapists ensures your safety and comfort every step of the way.
What makes IIT’s approach unique from other ketamine clinics?
We use a bio-psycho-spiritual model that treats the whole person — not just symptoms —
integrating:
- Physiological health: nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress reduction
- Psychological care: medication support and psychotherapy
- Spiritual growth: purpose, meaning, and personal development
Rather than offering medication alone, we combine medical treatment, structured
integration support, and lifestyle foundations designed to help changes translate into
everyday life.
IIT is the only psychedelic medicine clinical research site in Minnesota and one of the
largest in the Midwest, helping shape the future of the field while offering patients access
to emerging innovation.
How many treatments will I need?
IV Ketamine (typical starting approach)
Many patients begin with an induction series of six treatments, commonly scheduled:
- Twice weekly for 3 weeks
- Once weekly for 6 weeks
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
- It is commonly recommended to complete three KAP sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart.
Spravato® (esketamine)
- The typical induction phase includes two treatments per week for four weeks, following FDA-guided protocols
Medical follow-up
Medical follow-up visits occur throughout your treatment series and again at completion to evaluate progress and next steps.
Integration support
- Patients receiving IV ketamine, IM ketamine (without a therapist present), or Spravato® often benefit from meeting with an integration therapist within 1–2 days following treatment
- Patients receiving Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy typically complete 1–2 preparation sessions prior to treatment and 1–2 integration sessions afterward
Do I need to work with a therapist?
Integration therapy is optional but highly recommended. Many patients choose 1–2 therapy sessions before and after treatment to process insights and anchor changes.

Patients are responsible for confirming coverage with their insurance plan prior to their
first ketamine treatment and should request a reference number from that conversation.
Please bring this reference number to your medical evaluation so it can be documented in
your chart.
All ketamine treatments (except Spravato®) include an additional out-of-pocket cost
for noncovered services. The amount varies depending on the type of treatment.
Payment for non-covered services is collected at check-in. Any insurance responsibility
will be billed through the patient portal after claims have been processed.
We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA, and CareCredit, which offers
flexible payment options.
