Kathleen is a compassionate, creative therapist who listens deeply, and inspires individuals and families to engage their healthiest thinking and take action towards the positive changes they desire. She connects with clients’ personal and cultural strengths, and their creativity. Kathleen’s clients have used song-writing, art, puppetry, Nguzu Saba, and other cultural practices to promote self-expression and growth.
Navigating the world can be exhilarating and challenging. Kathleen is passionate about supporting youth, families, and adults in thriving, not just surviving! She is here to listen, to care, to celebrate joys and support struggles — personal, familial, societal. Kathleen is honored to support BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals and families, and to affirm cultural strengths and cultural ways of healing. Kathleen encourages and empowers clients as they embrace their strengths, engage meaningfully, and live their lives authentically.
Kathleen’s work is client and family-centered. It is trauma-informed. She uses a systems framework and draws on Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Structural and intergenerational Family Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. She is training as a psychedelic assisted therapist at the Institute for Integrative Therapies.
Over the last 20 plus years, Kathleen has worked in a variety of settings – medical, educational, disability advocacy, and mobile crisis. She connects each person or family to community resources that will best fit their needs and values. When not at work, Kathleen can be found enthusiastically bike-commuting in all weather, gardening, hiking, and traveling. She lives in South Minneapolis with her beloved partner and neighborhood community.
